Thierry Neuville signs off WRC season with Rally Australia victory

Thierry Neuville signed off the World Rally Championship 2017 season with his fourth victory of the year in Australia on Sunday afternoon, cementing his position as runner-up to champion Sebastien Ogier. Torrential rain threatened to undo all the Belgian’s good work from Saturday as the New South Wales forest roads became a muddy mess, but he held off determined challenges from Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala and Estonia’s Ott Tänak to win the finale by 22.5 seconds. It added to previous successes in France, Argentina and Poland and made him the most successful driver of the season in terms of wins.
